Spaghetti Bolognese

A delicious bowl of spaghetti bolognese is the kind of comfort food which warms the body and soul. Spaghetti in a meaty sauce is just the comfort you need this winter.

Spaghetti Bolognese

(serves 4-6 people)

500 grams lean beef mince

1/4 cup olive oil

2 tablespoon oregano

1 bay leaf

1 sprig thyme

1 small onion finely chopped

1 can crushed tomatoes

1 teaspoon beef stock powder mixed in 1/3 cup water

2 teaspoon crushed garlic

Handful chopped parsley

1 half teaspoon red chilli flakes

1 teaspoon black pepper

Salt to taste

Grated Parmesan cheese and basil for serving


1. Heat olive oil in a large frying pan add onion and sauté till light brown in colour

2. Add garlic and braise for 30 seconds

3. Add the beef mince and stir fry with the onion till colour of the mince changes.

4. Add in oregano, bay leaf, salt, black pepper, chilli flakes, chopped parsley, thyme and braise for 2 mins

5. Add in crushed tomato when it starts bubbling add in the beef stock a simmer for 20-30mins or till sauce thickened

6. Remove bay leaf and serve with spaghetti garnish with chopped basil, and Parmesan cheese
